where do you live? in the state? if so, you should definitely look at the prices of tickets now. They are over half the price that I spent to go last year, less than $500 RT from Denver anyway. I used AirBNB to get an apartment in the center of Paris and it was a very economical trip for me.
I am from MN. We are on top of it. :). My husband booked our tickets last week for the prices you mentioned and I just booked an AirBNB! Too funny :). I was surprised we got everything for such good prices. We are really happy about that. Any must sees/advice besides the main sites?

Make sure you do the Louvre, and Notre Dame, especially at night.
Make a day to go to Versailles. Go up to Monte Marte
