This is one of the original ways to enter the Cave of the Winds in Colorado, that ladder really doesn’t look that promising and to only have a headlamp or carry a lantern with a candle in it doesn’t really sound that safe, considering the rope and the wood construction. I’m very happy they have excavated and explored better tunnels, entrances, and exits to explore this cave; and added electric lighting (Edison put the first light bulb in this cave and it is still there.)
