On the subject of history, albeit somewhat more recent than Athenic mosaics 😉 …
I was wondering earlier about the history of North Korea. Any thoughts on how the Korean War started and what it may tell us as to what action is appropriate in the current debacle with Trumpet/Jong-Un?

I have to say, i had to think on this one and admit you give me more credit than i deserve. I didn’t study Asian history. I really enjoyed European history and saw all the connection that led to WE I I from the war of 1812. However, todays issue, seem, imho, is also a social battle between 2 egos. concerned not for their countries or people but their own narcissistic and self serving egos. a dangerous couple to engage in this battle of wills without an adult in the room.
Adults in age – children in personality/mentality – and not healthy well-adjusted kids either! 😉
I would have said the Korean war was more American history than Asian? 🙂
I just had a look and it seems N/S Korea is directly equivalent to E/W Germany, being a post WW11/Cold War product/outcome. The difference being N Korea attacked S Korea with Russian and Chinese support 3 years after the US/Communist division of the country. The US had to retaliate and the world had another 4 year war followed by 60 years of tension as madmen with god-complexes took power over the tiny buffer state between the US and China.
The South blossomed into a world economy while the North got stuck in a time warp and developed a persecution complex that has resulted in their overpowering need to ‘defend’ itself against a massively powerful nuclear armed enemy state ( the US! 😉 ) that has had the power to invade them and/or wipe them out totally for the last 70 years and yet has never actually attempted to.
Funny that! 😉

Have heard/read countless items on Korea and the Kim family for years, not just in the last 6 months and yet i never bothered to look up what started it all off?
We’re still feeling the aftermath of World War 1 a hundred years after it started!
I just hope it won’t end in WW111. 😦
