What is your favorite holiday? Need I say more? 🙂 I love the costumes, the children visiting my door, the Indian summers that sometimes give me warmth. I can decorate the house and not have to worry about taking the decorations down in below freezing weather and 3 feet of snow. Yes, this is my favorite holiday by far!
What types of food is associated with your holiday? Chocolate, of course for me and the children. That’s why I don’t buy the treats until the day before. Otherwise, I would eat them.
Do you travel for your holiday? Only on my broom in the light of the full moon.
Is it a religious or spiritual holiday? That depends on who you ask. For me, it is not, it is a day for me to have fun. I do enjoy the history of the day, the origins of the day and Dias de Los Muertos and have learned through friends in Mexico City about the true celebrations revolving around that day.
Is there a gift exchange? Only the exchange of my giving Candy to the kids and them giving me their smiles at my decorations and thanks.
How long does the celebration last? I start putting up decorations the first of October, I celebrate Halloween all month. But of course, it’s only the one night, and usually, I get only a couple of hours of children visiting.
Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful for learning how to stay mindful in my rebellious heart. Although I knew there was a slim chance of fortune going the way I hope, had I not made an effort according to my convictions I would have not succeeded in being true to myself.
This is Christmas week, I will be able to spend some time with my daughter and her family unless it snows again. In that case, I’ll just have to wait. I have next week off for vacation!
