Flower of the Day – November 11, 2016-Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea)

Denver Botanic Gardens, the purple coneflower or Echinacea is popular for attracting bees and butterflies.  It also has medicinal uses for flu and to boost the immune system.

    Pretty picture! They grow on the hills in South Dakota also. As kids we would dig up and chew on the root to numb our mouths for fun.

        Not often. Although it’s a wonder I didn’t poison myself with all the different stuff we would pick and eat while we were running around. Lol
