Sugar's Dog Blog

October 2, 2004- Saturday

Today Mom and I got to go to a Denver Pet Partners meeting. Lisa Knowles talked about making animals lives the best it could be. She talked about how to help us have fun and enjoy life. Lisa is also a trainer and she's going to meet Hunter next week. Maybe she can teach Hunter some manners.

We also got to meet some Emergency room technicians that talked about dogs donating blood. Did you know that dogs only have 2 blood types? A positive and A negative? I didn't know that. I also didn't know that you couldn't have had puppies to donate blood and Mom didn't know whether I've ever had puppies or not so I wasn't eligible to donate.

Mom made me some "business" cards today, so I can give them to the people I visit.  I can't decide which one I like best.  Can you help me?

Card 1:  short and sweet

Card 2: kinda wordy but tells people about me

Well, I finally made my first solo visit at the hospital. I was supposed to go on Saturday, but my rowdy brother Hunter knocked me off the deck. I hurt my leg and Mom was worried I'd injured my spine, because I collapsed a second time when I came in the house. She took me to the Vet and they ran all kinds of tests on me, but couldn't find anything wrong except I hurt my leg. The nurses and doctors at the Vet were really nice, they gave me lots of hugs. I really like them.

When I visited Littleton Adventist Hospital I got to visit the 4th floor and Children's After Hours waiting room. I felt like I made people smile when I walked in their rooms and they really liked my trick of getting on that little rug on a chair. It worked good and people could see me and pet me much better than before. There weren't many children in the waiting room, but the nurses and parents had a good time when I came in. They all got around me. One nurse even has a dog that does visits at Swedish, and she showed me his picture on her cell phone.

Today I started my website, I sure hope everyone likes it.  I want to be able to tell everybody what's happening when I go volunteer.  I really like visiting people.  My Mom says I even smile when I go to work.  I showed her today that I can get up on a little bitty rug on a chair if people can't reach down to pet me from their hospital beds.  I hope we can use this new trick tomorrow when I go visit at Littleton Adventist.
